A WOMAN has been arrested after a freight train ploughed into an abandoned car left on the tracks at Pyramid Hill early yesterday.

The south-bound grain train hit the vehicle at the Pyramid Hill-Boort Rd and Victoria St intersection about 2.20am, dragging it about 300m along the tracks.

Sergeant Men Hennitt of Bendigo police said the driver of the train and his two colleagues were not injured.

‘‘The train had significant damage to the front end and the car was extensively damaged,’’ he said.

‘‘VLine are conducting their own security.’’

The owner of the vehicle — a 36-year-old Pyramid Hill woman — was questioned by police and returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.158.

The woman’s licence will be suspended and she is expected to be charged with traffic-related offences.
