THE Moama Water Sports Club president has a message to everyone who attended this year’s Southern 80 — thank you.
Club president John Lomas said he could not have been more happy with the running of this year’s event, and the crowds, along with the weather conditions for the most part were ‘‘awesome’’.
‘‘The finish line is terrific, the turnout is great, and we were really taken by it. We also had the static display in the town and the turnout to that was awesome too,’’ he said.
A personal favourite of the president’s every year is the Superclass, which this year he predicted would be won by Merc Force.
Along with crowds flocking to the water’s edge to view the three days of racing on the Murray River, the president said he could not have asked for better racing conditions.
‘‘You couldn’t get better conditions for racing, you really couldn’t. There was no sunshine, and therefore no glare off the water,’’ Lomas said.
‘‘Along with that, there was mainly cloudy conditions and no reflections.
‘‘The water is in pristine condition, and you won’t get it any better than that, and with the temperature of 33, 34 degrees, that’s pretty good I reckon.’’
