Tongala FNC’s Sportsmans Night will no doubt be a full house after the announcement that radio host Sam Pang and Nova 100 co-host and Brisbane Lions legend Jonathon Brown will attend as guest speakers.

IT TOOK the calling in of a few favours, but the Tongala’s Sportsman’s Night will be co-hosted by TV and radio star Sam Pang and former Brisbane Lions legend Jonathan Brown.

Pang played footy for Tongala in the 1996, 97 and 98 seasons, and was well-liked around the club.

So the club decided to get in touch and ask if he could attend this year’s Sportsman’s Night, to be held on March 3.

Tongala football manager Paul Cox said Pang was ‘‘only too happy’’ to get on board.

‘‘It’s been a project we’ve been working on over two or three years, to get in contact with Sam, he’s really excited to come up, and he’s dragged Browny up too,’’ Cox said.

‘‘Apparently he owed Sam a favour, so he’s coming up too. Sam did a favour for him one day going to help Browny out at a Sportsman’s Night at his old club, and so Sammy was keen to get him back for this one.’’

Cox said the night will see Pang interview his co-host on the Nova 100 breakfast show, before an open question and answers section.

‘‘Sam will interview Browny and ask a few questions, and then we’ll also have a Q and A open to the floor as well,’’ he said.

Of the 300 tickets printed, about 230 have already been snapped up.

‘‘The sales are going really well. The online side of things — all of those tickets have sold out.

‘‘They’re pretty well sought after, and $70 is good value for money really. We made it that way so to not make it too expensive, it’s just going to be a fun night so we were able to keep the price relatively low,’’ Cox said.

With doors opening at 7pm at the Tongala Shire Hall in Mangan Street, the $70 per person will include supper on the night. There will also be drinks available at bar prices.

Cox said bookings are essential as there will be no tickets available for walk-ins on the night.

‘‘Tables of 10 can be bought by contacting Paige on 0400 885 468 or following the link on the Tongala Football Netball Club Facebook page,’’ he said.

‘‘We really need to emphasise that bookings are essential. I’ve been getting on to our footballers because they are being slack, and I’ve told them, don’t come and sook to me when you miss out.’’
