A NEW look Leitchville Library will be officially opened on Tuesday.
The new library is thanks to a $13,600 Living Libraries grant from the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
The facility is now more prominently located within the Leitchville Rural Transaction Centre, which also houses the Bendigo Bank and Centrelink facilities in the town.
Gannawarra Shire mayor Brian Gibson said council had provided additional funding to allow a much larger library space with greater facilities.
“The new improved facility allows the Rural Transaction Centre to become more of a community hub, with the additional space enabling the library to offer programs as well as resources,” he said.
“As well as rejuvenating the Rural Transaction Centre the move also means the old library room can now be incorporated into the recently funded upgrade of the Leitchville Kindergarten.”
Resources available while the library is open will include borrowing of books, magazines and DVDs with public access to computers, internet, printing and photocopying also available.
Free WiFi, a tourist information stand, book swap facilities and a reading area will be available during bank and library opening hours.
The Leitchville Library will maintain its current hours of 1.30pm - 5.30pm each Tuesday.
The official opening will take place at 2pm on Tuesday at the Leitchville Rural Transaction Centre.
Light refreshments will be provided and all are invited to attend.
