MATHOURA will eventually be home to a mural of its original railway station.

Murray River Council approved the transfer of $2119 from the Country Arts Reserve to this year’s budget for the Mathoura Rural Project last week.

The former Murray Shire Council received a $1500 Country Arts Support Program for the Mathoura Art Group in 2012-13 to produce a public mural for Mathoura.

The project was delayed but is now ready to go ahead.

Having been altered slightly, it will see a mural made of the original Mathoura railway station on an aluminium panel.

The mural will be fixed to a structure close to the railway line near Morris St.

There is an additional cost for the structure’s production and its installation which is why council decided to transfer more funds.
