Rummage through homes and unite for garage sale

March 05, 2018

Barb Watson, Anne Peace and Claire Copp are looking forward to Saturday's suitcase rummage.

THINK of that dress in the dark depths of your closet — you know, the one you never wear?

What about the toys the children have outgrown?

Why not whip out a suitcase, fill it up with forgotten items and head down to Echuca Moama Uniting Church to sell at a suitcase rummage this Saturday?

In addition to a spread of old and new rummage goodies, there’ll be a second-hand book stall and cake stall for all our town’s bookworms and foodies.

Organiser Anne Peace said last year’s event was a success, with even more suitcases planned this time around.

‘‘It’s a fantastic, relaxed social event,’’ she said.

‘‘There’s plenty of new items on sale — jewellery, knitted or sewn items — last year we even had items made by people in East Timor.

‘‘Or it’s just a great opportunity for people downsizing and de-cluttering to get rid of some things.’’

Funds raised from the event will go to the local Uniting Church and, ultimately, back into the community.

‘‘We provide a range of outreach programs, including breakfasts and lunches for people in need,’’ Anne said.

Locals can sell used and new items at the suitcase rummage on Saturday, March 10 from 9am onward.

The cost is $20 a suitcase.
