A BOOK celebrating the beauty and history of Echuca-Moama was launched last week.
After months of anticipation, Celebrating Echuca-Moama was finally unveiled at the Echuca Visitor and Information Centre by Echuca-Moama Tourism boss Kathryn McKenzie.
The book is the brainchild of the Echuca Historical Society after several years of book sellers asking them when it was coming.
More than 1000 photographs were contributed for the publication, with multiple community members also helping to write captions, design the layout, proofread and select which photos best represented Echuca-Moama.
Historical society member Dot Hammond said it was a relief to finally hold a physical copy in her hands.
‘‘We’re pumped. Thankfully it didn’t take too long, we started sourcing photos in November last year. We knew we just needed to get in and do it,’’ she said.
‘‘We’re very pleased with the presentation, the printers have done us proud.
‘‘And we just want to say a huge thank you to the people who supplied the photographs and our amazing volunteer staff who helped put the book together.’’
Echuca-Moama Tourism’s Kathryn McKenzie was blown away by the new publication.
‘‘When Dot described the book, she said it was ‘just a book of photographs’. But it’s so much more,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s a carefully curated timeline, from the earliest days of Echuca-Moama, through to now.
‘‘I’ve learnt so many new facts about the twin towns just by looking through this book.’’
Celebrating Echuca-Moama is $20 and can be purchased at Echuca Historical Society museum, Collins Books, Echuca Paddlesteamers, Murray River Paddlesteamers and Port of Echuca Discovery Centre.
