GRACE Riddell has returned home after a dream day at the Melbourne Grand Prix.
The 10-year-old was among the first batch of the Grand Prix Grid Kids after Formula One announced it would scrap its grid girls program.
Grace, a Moama Anglican Grammar student from Wyuna, spent the day meeting drivers and watching the action from the podium.
“It was an amazing feeling being out on the track before the race,” she said.
“I didn’t realise how grippy the track was until I walked on it.”
Grace couldn’t believe how quick the cars were moving and said it was a very different experience to watching the race on TV.
“They whiz past. You only see them for a couple of seconds when they come past,” she said.
“It was a great day and something I would encourage other kids to get involved with.
“Hopefully I get the chance to do it again someday.”
