RUSHWORTH people are being encouraged to have a say on the final designs for the Rushworth Streetscape.
It will support the redevelopment of High St, between Bendigo Murchison Rd and Wigg St.
Campaspe mayor Adrian Weston said the infrastructure in High St, including the road surface, gutters, parking areas, footpath and drainage systems, was in poor condition and was in need of replacement.
“Instead of looking at each project separately, council is combining all the infrastructure needs into one project, to design as a whole, which will then support construction in future years,” Cr Weston added.
The community is being asked to vote for preferences on two layouts for the carpark at the north end of High Street as well as an option to include a boulevard of trees.
To support discussion with the community a drop-in session is planned for Thursday, April 19 between 11am to 2pm at the northern end of High St.
Rushworth’s High St is in a heritage overlay area and factors such as the planning scheme requirements, High St heritage streetscape plan, railway precinct plan and street furniture style guide will be taken into consideration in final designs.
The needs of the community also need to be considered such as visual appeal, connectivity between spaces, business and event opportunities, parking and traffic movements as well as public safety.
Information is also available on council’s website and at the Rushworth customer service centre where residents can view plans and provide comment through the feedback sheet.
All comments should be submitted by Thursday, April 24.
