IF YOU miss shopping at Carters of Echuca, Guys & Girls is the next best thing, according to owner Georgie Pearse.

Mrs Pearse opened the fashion store at 227 Anstruther St five years ago after the closure of Carters of Echuca, where she had been working.

The store offers quality men’s and women’s clothing and accessories from casual to formal, from ages 16 and over.

‘‘Guys and Girls is very unique, as we have specially selected labels,’’ she said.

‘‘We have fashion that will not be seen everywhere.

‘‘If anyone misses Carters of Echuca, then Guys and Girls is the closest store to what Carters used to offer and more.’’

Specialising in bra and breast prosthesis fittings, the store also sells sleepwear, lingerie, swimwear, shapewear and baby gifts.

Mrs Pearse said its friendly and helpful service was second to none.

‘‘We go the extra mile,’’ she said.

‘‘We pride ourselves on friendly and efficient service and a shop that has a little something for everyone.’’

Mrs Pearse encouraged Echuca-Moama residents to shop local as people could ‘‘try before you buy’’ and it kept jobs in town.

‘‘Then we have the snowballing effect of greater expenditure locally that benefits all local businesses and staff,’’ she said.

‘‘By having more local shops and local services, we have the opportunity to offer more jobs to locals, especially our children who need local afterschool or casual employment.

‘‘If people continue to shop out of town or online, then our local stores will have no option but to close as they become unsustainable.’’
