THE CFA is urging people to remain vigilant with a severe fire danger rating forecast for the region tomorrow.
CFA Campaspe Shire district 20 operations officer John Cutting said while the danger period officially ended on Tuesday last week, it does not mean the reality of risk is gone as well.
Mr Cutting said with local temperatures expected to soar into the high 30s tomorrow; anybody planning to burn-off today should be shelving that idea to ensure there aren’t any dramas tomorrow.
‘‘The fire danger rating is severe tomorrow and we are urging people not to burn-off, not even small fires,’’ Mr Cutting said.
‘‘In some cases fires have been a result of burn-offs from the previous day not being extinguished properly — and that’s always a problem.
‘‘So people need to be careful and we ask they don’t burn-off today or tomorrow to prevent a fire from getting out of control — and keep an eye on forecasts when they do decide to burn.’’
