Joeys on the job for our Diggers

April 16, 2018

The Echuca Joeys with care packages for deployed troops.

Jaynee Jackson, Narelle Currey and Dylan Taylor pack a box for our troops.

OUR deployed troops are guaranteed a bright start to their Anzac Day thanks to care packages from the 1st Echuca Scout Group.

The scouts carefully packed 40 boxes with assorted goodies which will arrive in our troops’ Anzac Day mail.

There were DVDs, books, soaps, toiletries, magazines — and, of course, oodles of Tim Tams.

And it was a community effort, with the Moama RSL supplying boxes and poppies, Echuca RSL toiletries kits and poppies and both Echuca and Moama newsagencies contributing magazines.

Echuca library also donated books.

‘‘Thanks also to Shaun at Moama post office for processing the parcels,’’ Joey Scout leader Narelle Currey said.

‘‘There were lots of helpers packing, weighting, sealing and addressing packages.

‘‘We’re so thankful to the local community for supporting this initiative.’’
