Bombers on the outer

May 09, 2018

DESPITE their stunning form to begin the netball season, no Murray Bombers have been selected for the GVL interleague netball squad.

The Murray Bombers sit third on the ladder with just the single loss, but were unable to get a player into the side that takes on Ovens and Murray FNL at Yarrawonga on Saturday, May 19.

Meanwhile on the football field, Murray Bombers young guns Fraser Verhey, Jordan Frew, Liam Tenace, Trent Campbell and Riley Clarke have all been named to the GVL under 18 interleague side.

The side will face off against Ballarat at Punt Road on May 19.

Vesty best for Echuca

THE Echuca Cricket Club have started their planning for an assault on the 2018/19 GMC premiership with the appointment of Scott Vesty as coach.

Previously playing at Mathoura, Northern United, Drysdale and St Peter’s in Geelong, he was also an under 21 NSW representative.

Vesty has some experience in premierships, with A grade titles at Drysdale and Mathoura, where he was captain/coach.

Pleasant shock for local clubs

THE Echuca Moama Croquet Club, Kyvalley Tennis Club and the Lockington Golf Club are set to take their game up a notch when it comes to dealing with emergencies on and off the park, with a new defibrillator and training package from the state government.

Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp MP announced that these local clubs were some of 301 successful applicants across the state to receive the package from the third round of the new Defibrillators for Sporting Clubs and Facilities Program.
