Moama bike rider Paul Thorpe (pictured on Twenty Four Lane, Moama) called on council to look after its bike path last year.

IN DECEMBER last year Moama’s Paul Thorpe (pictured) desperately called on Murray River Council to seal a bike path he was riding three times a week — and that’s what it’s done.

The path is home to a hot-mix smoother seal which council said would make it a much better surface for recreational users.

Mr Thorpe said it was fantastic news.

‘‘I tested it out and it’s great,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s fabulous, I thanked council. It’s excellent what they’ve done.’’

Heading west from the back of Woolworths, the bike path was initially sealed with a spray sealant.

But over the last three budget periods, council had allocated funds to seal the track with hot-mix.

The hot-mix seal was along the first section of the track up to Merool Rd.

It will soon be sealed from Winbi Ave to Twenty Four Lane.

‘‘Council is always pleased to deliver improvements to recreational paths and spaces that will be of benefit to both locals and visitors alike,’’ a council spokesperson said.
