Croquet’s best on show

THE Goulburn Valley Croquet Association season closing lunch was held at Shepparton Croquet Club on Monday, attended by 11 of our members who enjoyed a tasty meal.

Various presentations were made to recipients of competitions throughout the season.

Rich River’s Lyn and John Norwood and Gillian Brinsmead were presented with the trophy for the association croquet division two pennant competition.

And Kenn Boal was presented with his trophy for winning division one of the GVCA Association Croquet Championships.

Thursday last week saw 14 of our members playing doubles, with one game of singles.

It was a very close result with three people winning three games each.

The day’s winner was Allan Cumming, ahead of runner up Carol Borella who beat Lorraine Kable by only one hoop.

On Tuesday this week we had 20 members playing doubles.

Ian Grant, the winner, was the only person to win all three games.

Russell Smyth was runner up, one of 10 players who won two games each.

GOOD attendances have enabled our club to have some great play days, with our new members showing plenty of promise.

Monday 23/4 competition was strong with 18 members plus four visitors from the Boort club playing doubles, many close games with one of our new members Elayne Pickthall being the winner of the Let’s Do Coffee Voucher.

Players travelled to Quarry Croquet Club on Thursday April 26 with several of our players being successful.

Trevor Peters claimed the win on the day, with Jeff Pumpa runner-up and Jan Tracy finishing third.

On Friday of last week, players again travelled out of town to the Swan Hill Social Day with Trevor Peters winning section one and Vince Jessen winning section two, keep up the good work players, for a small and relative new club we have some very good players putting Echuca Moama Croquet Club on the map.

Shepparton Croquet Club held the GVCA closing day luncheon on Monday, with our president John Alstin receiving his trophy for being the winner of Goulburn Valley Croquet Association section three.
