THE MURRAY River Tea Rooms recently celebrated its first birthday with a bang.
There was plenty of cake and laughter as volunteers gathered to celebrate the tea rooms’ brilliant success to date and acknowledge the sponsors that helped make it happen.
‘‘This really shows the power of what a community can pull together,’’ Community Living and Respite Services’ Rod Cairns said.
‘‘We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished throughout the year and are very grateful to all who supported us.’’
The tea rooms are a social enterprise which combine an op shop and cafe.
Volunteers from all walks of life, ages and abilities assist with various aspects of the tea rooms, seeing the positive impact of their contribution first-hand.
