OVERTAKING lanes between Echuca and Rochester are not far off completion.
The $5.8 million investment by the Victorian Government will see two overtaking lanes built on the Northern Hwy.
Minor traffic delays are in place until the works are completed with the northbound overtaking lane, located 6km north of Rochester, expected to be completed by July.
VicRoads regional director, northern region Brian Westley said they are improving a key stretch of the Northern Highway.
‘‘Adding overtaking lanes in both directions between Rochester and Echuca,’’ he said. ‘‘This is an important section of the regional network particularly for freight and tourist traffic, that’s why we’re making overtaking easier and safer.’’
A southbound overtaking opportunity will be built 10km south of Echuca with works starting in the next few weeks.
