AN EXPERIENCED and international writer and freelance editor is coming to Echuca to share her experiences with the public.
Beck Sutton usually operates and writes under the pseudonym R.I. Sutton, and has had short stories published in Australia, Canada and the United States.
Sutton will come to the Campaspe Library in Echuca on Saturday, June 16 to share her experiences over the last two years in the field of negotiating an unconventional approach to self-publishing.
Having worked as a freelance editor and tutored creative writing she is currently engaged in ‘The Harebrained Press Project’.
The project is an adventure into book publishing using traditional methods of printing and binding.
The result of this venture, her first collection of tales, titled ‘Closer than Breathing’ is due to be launched in 2019.
Sutton will, in the writer’s talk, guide participants through fundamental elements of the short story form, including voice, character, setting and conflict.
Working with a series of writing exercises, each building from the next, participants can expect to harness inspiration and the tools needed to begin and develop an engaging story opening.
Sutton’s ‘Writer’s Talks’ will be held at the Campaspe Library at 310 Hare St from 10am till 12.30pm on June 16, and requires an entry fee of $10 per person.
