Pint-sized pirates plunder treasure for researchers

ECHUCA Primary School students last week embraced their inner scallywags and dressed up like pirates for a day to raise money for children’s brain cancer research.

The fourth annual Pirate Day Friday is a national fundraiser that encourages kids, office workers and whole towns to dress up and give a gold coin donation. All the funds that have been raised from the campaign, which was a collaboration between The Adventurers and The Kids’ Cancer Project, are directed to funding vital childhood brain cancer research.

Since the day began in 2015, more than $300,000 has been raised by pirates Australia-wide for medical research to help kids with brain cancer.

To help Echuca Primary School’s efforts, people can also donate online at thekidscancerproject.org.au
