Sometimes art does make the very best of medicines

Formed several years ago to select artwork for the new hospital, the committee invites local schools to provide exhibitions — on a rotating annual basis — to be framed and then hung in the corridor leading to and from the wards as a feature for patients, staff and visitors.

‘‘The group came up with the idea to engage local schools with the artwork in the hospital,’’ member Bronwyn Morton said.

‘‘It’s certainly been a great activity and we’ve had only positive feedback from the staff, visitors and patients.’’

Ms Morton couldn’t take her eyes off the ESS exhibition.

‘‘They’re very colourful — I’m very happy with the colour in these artworks — and they’re all individual so every student has brought their own ideas and own artistic talent to their projects,’’ she said.

‘‘So it’s a very eclectic exhibition which is great.’’
