A cold wet night greeted the team on Friday in the clash against Runnymede at Elmore.
Ably led by captain Hayla McGregor, the team gave their all in the wet, slippery conditions. Our key ball movers Darcy Weeks, Easton Carlile and Zac Swinton were determined to keep the ball in our forward half.
Charlie Kenna and Riley Chivers-Sellings were sensational in the ruck, passing the ball out to teammates to create opportunities.
Logan Mann and Jake Scragg put the pressure on the opposition with some good tackles to turn the ball over.
Luke Ollermann got plenty of use of the ball and put the first goal on the board, quickly followed by a superb passage of play from Jack Oliver to Charlie O’Toole for the second goal.
Archer Golding and Angus Watson were everywhere, fighting hard to add another couple of goals to the board.
A sensational mark from Archer Weeks sent the ball forward, while Jaxon Bourke, Zavier Boals and Cooper Mai fought hard all night to keep the ball moving.
While the unfortunate backline stood in the cold, the goals came thick and fast in the last to finish the game strong.
Awards: Hayla McGregor, Angus Watson, Charlie Kenna, Easton Carlile, Zac Swinton and Jack Oliver.
U14s — Echuca Green 3.2.20 lt. Echuca Bombers 12.12.84
A wintry blast on Sunday morning met the boys as they took to the field against the Echuca Bombers, but that didn’t dampen their fighting spirit.
River Stevens and Alan O’Neill put in a sensational effort the entire game fighting hard to get to the ball and send it forward to Carson Smith and Chhay Williams to create scoring opportunities.
Our rucks Noah Turner and Judd McCauley using every opportunity to get first use of the ball and find our key midfielders Solly Fleming, Levi Hone and Jed Dargan.
Jett Westblade continued turning defence into attack and in the best play of the day created a turnover at half back allowing Ed Cunningham to move the ball forward to the run of Kyle Green whose perfect pass found Josh Dempster who slotted through a set shot for goal.
Zac Hegarty and Connor McCoy kept the pressure on in defence, forcing the ball forward.
Full credit to our U12s stepping up to help out, Bertie Cunningham and Logan Mann put in a super effort to make a contest and push the ball forward.
These boys have plenty of heart, fighting spirit and determination. Full kudos to them for never dropping their heads and giving in under tough circumstances — they fight out every game to the final siren.
Goals: River Stevens, Josh Dempster, Carson Smith.
Awards: Noah Turner, Ed Cunningham, Josh Dempster, Levi Hone, Jed Dargan and Conner McCoy.
