CHARITY organisation Very Special Kids parked their huge, pink ceramic pig outside Echuca’s Commonwealth Bank last week to raise money for children with life-threatening conditions.
The organisation was joined by Rapid Relief Team, who provided a barbecue to contribute to the cause.
Very Special Kids offers free-of-charge family support services across Victoria including counselling, advocacy, bereavement support and specialist care at Very Special Kids Hospice.
It is in its 33rd year and started off assisting two families to now over 900.
Volunteer Alan Hall said he had been with Very Special Kids for 13 years.
“It’s brilliant to come up here and be amongst the community we’re serving,” he said.
“We raise money from these communities to help people in their community.
“We look to the generosity of our communities and they never let us down.”
Commonwealth Bank Echuca branch manager Lauren Phillips said they had sponsored Very Special Kids for several years.
“We are really proud of the work they do and are more than happy to support them through their fundraising efforts as we do each and every year,” she said.
