The church will hold a rummage sale and Great Outback BBQ in the grounds of the church this Saturday, September 7 as a way of giving back to our Aussie battlers.
“We would like to invite the community to take a table at the garage sale or to attend on the day and buy a second-hand book, a piece of craft, or a sausage from the barbie," organiser Anne Peace said.
"This event is a great way that we in town can show those in the bush that they have our support.”
Frontier Services National director Jannine Jackson said the need has never been greater for on-the-ground support services.
“People living in rural communities and remote locations are facing severe financial, mental and physical stress from drought, and most often they are doing it alone," she said.
"Not many understand that those on remote properties can go weeks and weeks with no face to face contact and no one to talk to. It is so important that contact is made when times are tough and that is what we do.
"Our people knock on doors making welfare checks and offering practical help. In many remote locations we are the only agency who remains.”
You can also hold a Great Outback BBQ of your own during September to promote mateship and show their solidarity with farmers doing it tough.
