Thieves smashed their way into Giddings Co in Lockington Rd about 3 am before jumping over the counter to steal two drawers of cigarettes and a hard drive.
Senior Constable Scott Newton of the Echuca criminal investigation unit said police believed three offenders were involved, one of whom remained in a vehicle.
“They were in and out pretty quickly. Less than a minute,” he said.
“The owner was woken up by the alarm about 3 am and went over there to see them leaving in a dark sedan in a southerly direction.
“They were wearing gloves and their faces were covered.”
Owner Ged Giddings was forced to shut the shop for three hours while police forensically examined the scene.
It's not the first time the shop has been hit, with a man wielding a crossbow holding up the supermarket and stealing cigarettes and power tools in 2016.
Detective Senior Constable Troy Wickham of the Echuca criminal investigation unit said it was a disappointing crime for a small community like Lockington.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and will make some inquiries and see what we can find out,” he said.
“We're appealing for help from the public in an effort to solve this crime.”
