MCW Productions will undertake four days of filming from March 16 to 19.
The first two days will be focusing on Echuca-Moama, before the crew heads to Picnic Point and the Edward River campground to film more fishing adventures.
Filming of the show, made possible by the efforts of Murray River Council, will bring national attention to the Murray River Council area, considered by many to be one of the country’s premier locations to fish for Murray Cod.
Murray River Council mayor Chris Bilkey believes the show will help boost recreational fishing tourism across the area.
‘‘When it comes time to drop in a line, our creeks and rivers boast some of the best inland fishing in Australia,’’ he said.
‘‘So it’s really exciting that we have the opportunity to bring Merv here to showcase what this River Country really has to offer.
‘‘I hope viewers will feel inspired to come and explore the region and dive into their own fishing adventures here.’’
Council has also partnered with Echuca-Moama Tourism to maximise the exposure of the area’s tourism offering for lovers of the Australian bush, the river and the great outdoors.
The filming will focus on catching Murray Cod and yellowbelly, and will also mention attractions and regional highlights, including fishing in other local destinations like Wakool and Moulamein.
‘‘I can’t wait to spend four days at one of my favourite fishing destinations,’’ Merv said.
‘‘We’ll be fishing the Murray, Picnic Point and the Edward River with local fishing guru ‘Laddy’ along for the ride too.
‘‘Let’s show Australia just how great Echuca-Moama and River Country is for fishing.’’
The show will be broadcast nationally in July 2020 on 7Mate.
