Stage three of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment is on track for completion at the end of the month, building on works undertaken during the past five years.
“Supported by the Federal Government’s Regional Growth Fund, these works will build on council’s work to maximise tourism, recreation, commercial and residential opportunities throughout the Gannawarra,” Gannawarra Shire chief executive Tom O’Reilly said.
“These works will link the Koondrook township and award-winning Koondrook Wharf to the Koondrook Nature Based Tourism Hub, which is on track for completion in the coming months.”
Drainage and asphalting works along Tramway Place, as well as the development of a new roundabout that will provide easier vehicle access to the Koondrook boat ramp, were recently completed.
Landscaping and irrigation installation along Tramway Place and the shared user path extending from the Koondrook Wharf, along the Koondrook Goods Shed to the Gunbower Creek pedestrian bridge are continuing.
“Council looks forward to the completion of Stage 3 of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment, whilst also excited about the development of the Koondrook All Abilities Play Space, to be constructed in 2020-2021 thanks to a $390,000 contribution from Regional Development Victoria’s Regional Infrastructure Fund,” Mr O’Reilly said.
Stage three of the Koondrook CBD redevelopment was identified as one of the major projects in the Gannawarra Waterfront Masterplan, approved by the council in 2019 following extensive community consultation.
