MEMBER for Murray Plains Peter Walsh said today’s announcement that regional Victorians will return to stage 3 restrictions was absolutely gutting for families, businesses and all in the Echuca community.
Mr Walsh said regional Victoria was being forced into stage 3 restrictions through no fault of its own – especially across the north of the state.
"Local people are immensely frustrated that we've been working so hard to do things right, but that it clearly means nothing when the people driving the bus are doing everything wrong," he said.
“I've been raising our communities' concerns with the Andrews Government and it's disheartening that regional Victoria has been shackled to the shambles of the Andrews Labor Government’s unmitigated mismanagement of the pandemic in Melbourne.
“We've all been through this before. This time around there's an even more urgent need to come together as a community, support our neighbours and friends – and work colleagues – and to do our bit to stop the spread, because the next six weeks are going to be very hard for us all,” he said.
“While we don’t have all the details yet as soon as we are all shown the fine print of this state of disaster tomorrow we will have a better idea of what it means for us all.
“Until then we must all make sure we continue to keep our figures low by wearing a mask, that we don’t breach the new conditions and that we continue to lead the state on doing the job right. I will be there for you as your local member every step of the way and urge anyone with questions to contact my office."
