With the experience of Dr Olusegun Ajiboye (Aji) — who has been a fixture in the emergency department at Echuca Regional Health for the past eight years — and his team.
A team which includes physiotherapist James Black and; once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, a Melbourne based psychologist twice a week.
Dr Aji moved to Australia from South Africa 10 years ago, with his wife Princess and sons, Fifi, Toto and Fayo.
He officially opened his doors to patients at Dove Medical Centre on June 15, offering general medical services as well as urgent care and allied health.
His rooms — located in the same street as Echuca hospital — have been extensively renovated to provide a cutting-edge service to the twin towns.
Dr Aji also said it was an exciting opportunity to give something back to the community which had so openly accepted him and his family.
“I’ve been working in the local hospital with great doctors, they’re very friendly and have been really supportive of my journey in Echuca,” he said.
“I see myself as a part of a wider team dedicated to making Echuca-Moama shine.”
Along with extensive experience in emergency medicine and urgent care, Dr Aji is also a certified rural generalist and a part-time anaesthetist at ERH.
Dr Aji said his new clinic had a specialised focus on delivering quality care for chronic illness.
“We know a lot of people in rural and regional Australia have complex medical needs,” he said.
“We believe we can provide a well-tailored plan to achieve the best outcome for them.”
Patients of all ages are welcome, and other available services include skin checks and excisions, occupational health preemployment checks and mental health.
And Dr Aji is not standing still despite just launching the practice — he is already in the market trying to recruit more GPs — and he is certified to train other rural generalists.
Dove Medical Clinic is at 309 High St, Echuca, and will be open seven days a week, including after hours, once COVID-19 restrictions ease, and is welcoming new patients.
