A supervisor with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) child protection unit, who has held similar positions in Seymour, is wanted by police for allegedly possessing child pornography.
Detectives from Central Victoria Sexual Offences and the Child Abuse Investigation team are appealing for the publics help to locate 44-year-old Cameron Allan.
Mr Allan fled after police raided his home in Bendigo in relation to child pornography offences.
It is believed he may be driving a white Ford Mondeo sedan, Victorian registration number YVJ107 and may be heading towards the NSW area of Wagga Wagga and Gundagai.
The Telegraph understands his employment was terminated by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) last week when his bosses became aware of the allegations.
DHHS confirmed Mr Allan had worked in child protection.
‘‘The department has terminated this person’s employment. At the department’s request his working-with-children check has also been cancelled,’’ a spokesperson said.
DHHS said all child protection workers employed it were subject to a detailed screening process.
‘‘Applicants are required to have completed a recognised degree or diploma in social work or similar area of study,’’ the spokesperson said.
‘‘Applicants are also subject to rigorous reference checks, a working-with-children check, a national police history check and where applicable an international police check.’’
