Fleming Partners won the inaugural Futsal competition after a dominant grand final performance against John James Electrical at Deniliquin Stadium last week.
JJ Electrical first had to qualify for the grand final in a knockout semi final against Logic Box earlier in the night.
Logic Box’s dream end of season run continued, taking the early lead.
But JJ Electrical fought back to pinch the lead at half time, 5 to 4.
JJ Electrical was dominant in the second half with a flurry of goals late to end the game 9 to 4, booking a place in the grand final.
After a brief rest JJ Electrical took on minor premier Fleming Partners in the decider.
JJ Electrical got off to an early lead with a poor goal keeping decision.
However, the minor premiers recovered with Bailey Hart and Mark Rourke finding the back of the net on multiple occasions, running out to a 7 to 3 lead by half time.
Some individual brilliance from Mark Plant brought JJ Electrical back into the game after the break, bringing his side within two goals with scores at 7 to 5.
But Flemings were then able to reply with three goals to two in the last 10 minutes and were just too good in the end winning the premiership 10 to 7.
‘‘The inaugural Futsal competition, I believe, was a great success with all ages and skill levels represented,’’ competition organiser Mathew Crothers said.
‘‘During the regular season there was 278 goals scored and we ended up with a tie for leading goal scorers, with teammates Mark Rourke and Bailey Hart each scoring 30 goals.’’
‘‘We’re all looking forward to the next season.’’
Futsal will return after the term three school holidays.
