More than half of Australian adults are now overweight or obese

November 14, 2017

According to a recent report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), 63.4 per cent of Australian adults, are now overweight or obese.

Australia’s obesity rate is the fifth-highest in the OECD, behind Mexico, the US, New Zealand and Finland.

“Obesity should be treated as a public health priority. OECD work has shown there are many cost-effective options for tackling obesity, including efforts to change behaviour by individuals as well as by food companies,” the report says.
