A fundraising BBQ and head shave of Hargreaves Joinery apprentice Austin Frauenfelder was a great success with over $12,000 raised for hospital ridden Hargreaves employee Michael Viggor.
Michael has spent close to the last month, including the festive period in St Vincents Hospital in Melbourne after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloma Leukemia.
His workplace of more than 10 years, Hargreaves Joinery decided to host a fundraising day at the business just before Christmas to raise well needed money for the Viggor family to help with medical expenses.
“The fundraiser was a great success, we estimate about 200 people came throughout the day,” said Hargreaves Joinery Director Cath Hargreaves.
“By the end of the day we had raised over $12,000 which was a culmination of activities on the day and deposits and donations made in the lead up.”
Cath said the business will also hold a silent auction in late January to raise more money for the worth-while cause.
“We had quite a good response with donations, so we will host an online silent auction with plenty of goods so we can promote it to the wider community and anyone else that’s interested,” Cath said.
“There were a lot of businesses, clubs and individuals that gave significant donations, I’m amazed at what a small community can achieve.
“Overall it was an amazing success.”
If you would still like to make a donation to the fundraising set up for the Viggor family, an account dedicated to raising money for the cause is still open.
Please deposit the donation to the dedicated account at the Commonwealth Bank, account number 063- 537 1019 4587.
