Katamatite Primary School has a new cubby house thanks to some handy Cobram Secondary College students.
The existing cubby house at Katamatite was badly deteriorated and the school requested assistance from Cobram.
Eight Year 10 students gained first-hand knowledge in understanding the needs of a client and building a structure to specifications.
Teacher Chris Mitchell said it was valuable experience for the students, many of whom would one day be looking for apprenticeships.
‘‘Our aim was to give them the practical side of things but also for them to work with a client,’’ Mr Mitchell said.
‘‘They dealt with the Katamatite principal and students to figure out what they wanted. It gave the students a sense of community and pride in what they were doing.
‘‘Everyone enjoyed the project and the chance to put their skills into something that will see a lot of use — and Katamatite were very appreciative.’’
