The croquet club went out on a high for 2017 with the Gems and the Diamonds playing off in the grand final of the GVCA pennant competitions at Shepparton, where the Diamonds went on to win the day.
Both teams later enjoyed a celebratory breakfast together at The Crossing Cafe in Deniliquin.
A week later, 30 players and their partners attended the Christmas luncheon and presentation at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
Croquet in 2018 will start this Sunday at the Charlotte St courts in Deniliquin, at 8.30am for a 9am start.
The courts have been deeply scarified and well watered over the break, and are in beautiful condition.
The forecast for Sunday is 27°C, so it should be okay for croquet.
The club will hold a breakfast in a few weeks when everyone is back at croquet.
Members are hoping some new players will come along and join the ranks in 2018.
Anyone interested in trying croquet should contact Gwen Pearn on 5881 3198.
Mallets and balls are at the club. You only need a hat and suitable shoes.
Times for play during the summer are 8.30am for a 9am start on both Wednesdays and Sundays.
