From the opening of Saturday’s match, the River Rats were dominant.
Young guns Sam Lowndes and Courtney Thompson couldn’t make a mistake in the opening half of play, both putting two in the back of the net to give the Rats a 4-0 advantage.
Mooroopna came out hungry in the second half of the match, but the Rats held their ground, playing brilliantly in defence.
By the later stages of the match it had become too much to handle, as Mooroopna would land two late goals, though it wasn’t enough to get the result as the Rats claimed the win.

B Women’s
Both A and B teams were running low on numbers when they took to the field on Saturday, with the B women in a clash with Kyabram.
The side started strong with two early goals from Leah Kerr and Olivia Mathers.
With a defence that was clumped in the middle, it made it easier for Echuca to find and use space across the field.
The side’s passing was near perfect, but Kyabram would respond with some brilliant goal keeping and strong defence.
But it wasn’t going to be enough, with Echuca dominating play and claiming the big win.
Allyssa and Dimity both broke through for their first goals, while Kate Fletcher also got on the board.
Score: Echuca 7 d Kyabram 0
Kerang Junior Carnival
With small numbers, the under 15 and under 17 sides combined for the group stages, before splitting off into their standard age groups for the finals.
Despite the players not being used to playing on a standard grass surface, the side quickly adapted and finished second on the ladder with two wins, two draws and a loss.
The Echuca side made the under 17 grand final, where it would unfortunately fall to Wycheproof 2-0 in a hotly contested and highly skilled match-up.
