On Saturday, January 18, fitness fanatics of all ages can lace up their sneakers, dig out their bikes and cool off in the river.
And you will not be alone, with entries flooding in.
“We’ve been working on this for about three months, but it really picks up now,” race director Kelley Walker said.
“We are starting to get a lot of registrations for competitors coming in now, and having a look forward the weather looks like it will be great, which hopefully increases the numbers even more.”
From 9am, individual racers aged 7 to 10 and 11 to 14 can take part in the Moama Bowling Club Junior Duathlon.
Adults can register as individuals (member or non-member), all-male and all-female teams or a mixed team for the Morley Auto Group Echuca Moama Sprint Triathlon at 6pm.
Juniors are also able to take part in a team for this race.
The race consists of a 700m downstream swim in the Murray, a 20km multi-lap ride through the streets and outskirts of Echuca and a 5km run along the river and through the Port area. Registration and race pack collection opens from 3.30pm in the middle gazebo at Hopwood Gardens.
A race briefing will commence at 5.30pm at the gardens before the first waves of competitors start at 6pm.
If you would like to register online, you can find a link on the event’s Facebook page or register on the day.
Juniors racing in the morning will need to pay $20.
Individual members will be charged $95, non-members $105 and groups $135.
Participants are then invited to presentations and the triathlon after-party at the American Hotel from 9.30pm.
You can find more information about the events on the Echuca Moama Triathlon Club’s Facebook page
