THE Salvation Army joined forces with Moama Bowling Club to support its annual Christmas appeal through the club’s significant membership.
The appeal started on Monday December 17 and continues until New Year’s Day.
MBC’s Sean Garth said the club had previously run the appeal and in two years had raised more than $10,000.
He said the support from members and guests was simple – whenever they made a transaction they were given the opportunity to buy a star for $1.
“All proceeds from the stars goes direct to our local Salvation Army,” Sean said.
“And Moama Bowling Club matched every donation dollar for dollar,” he added.
“Customers were given a cardboard star which they could take home and hang on their own tree or put it on one of the designated trees at each entrance of our club.
“They could also put their names on the back, or remain anonymous.”
Sean wanted to encourage everyone visiting the club in the final days of 2018 to get on board and buy a star – or a few – for this valuable local support service.
