Murray River Police District will be out in force tomorrow as part of a high-visibility policing operation.
General duties police, as well as members of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command Police will be targeting drunk driving and carrying out random breath tests throughout Moama and Mathoura.
Murray River Police District Commander, Superintendent Evan Quarmby, said marked and unmarked police vehicles would be patrolling all major roads and back streets.
‘‘If you take the risk and drink drive, you will be caught,’’ he said.
‘‘Given this year’s Anzac Day falls on a Thursday during the school holidays, and after the Easter long weekend, we are anticipating a busy weekend on the state’s roads.
‘‘Plan how you’re getting home, organise a designated driver or pre-arrange transport. We want everyone to get to and from commemorations safely.
‘‘This day is about honouring the brave men and women who have served our country and paying tribute to those who died fighting for our freedom.
‘‘Like all major events, we want people to enjoy Anzac Day in a safe and secure environment, without the fear of being subjected to anti-social behaviour or alcohol-related crime.’’
