TO SOME, Billabong Ranch Adventure Park is a place for horse lovers to unite and to ride to their hearts content, but that’s not the half of it.

The Acquisto family-owned and operated business has been named one of the finalists of the Campaspe Murray Business Awards finalists announced recently and they’re beyond stoked.

‘‘We’ve been nominated and won before, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting,’’ Rocky Acquisto said.

‘‘This award is an opportunity to keep getting our name out there and show people what we’re all about and what we have to offer,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s great to be recognised for all the hard work we do and put into the business,’’ Hayley Acquisto said.

The business boasts a whole range of activities and attractions including horse riding lessons, mini golf, archery, a petting zoo, camel rides and so much more.

‘‘We encourage people to come out for winery tours and birthday parties, couples have even come out here to get married and that’s amazing,’’ Hayley said.

A key to their success, according to the Acquistos, is family.

‘‘This means a lot as a family business and having that element is great because it’s nice to come to work with your family every day,’’ Rocky said.

Other businesses from the tourism, retail, trades, agriculture, professional service and other sectors to were also announced as finalists for the awards.

Campaspe Shire Council Mayor, Cr Adrian Weston said there was an increase in the number of entries this year with the standard being extremely competitive.

“An impressive 91 applications were submitted, highlighting the value the business sector places on this local awards program.”

“We have a diverse, energetic commercial community on both sides of the Murray, and the awards nomination process has again showcased the incredible depth of passion that thrives in our local business sector,” Cr Weston said.
