The Timbercutters struggled to find the target at Mathoura Recreation Reserve, putting in a wayward scoring performance against fellow winless side Blighty.
The Redeyes were perfect in the first period, slotting 3.0, while Mathoura missed the mark, posting 0.4 to start the game in a hole.
The first Cutters goal came in the second, but the host could only match Blighty’s output and the teams went into the sheds 5.2 (32) to 2.5 (17).
Mathoura made up some ground in the third, but it was the weight of shots doing the work, as the Cutters sprayed 2.6 for the period.
Trailing by two goals, the host lost its way in the fourth, going goalless as Blighty closed things out with two majors in the final term, 9.5 (59) to 4.12 (36).
Jake Rawe (2), Mitch Worsnop and Kurtlee Olsen were the goal-kickers for Mathoura, but the Cutters could have had many more added to that list had their aim been true.
Jacob Priestley put Blighty on his back, kicking five of his side's nine majors.
This likely was Mathoura’s last good opportunity to pick up a win this season, as it battles three current finals sides in Jerilderie, Deniliquin Rovers and Picola United in the final three rounds.
The Cutters head to Jerilderie Recreation Reserve to face the Demons on Saturday.
