Benalla’s Tomorrow Today Foundation has continued to support important local projects with vital funding via its 2019 Annual Grants Program.
Funding has already been allocated to the Benalla Flexible Learning Centre, Benalla YMCA and Munro Avenue Preschool.
These grants will assist in a number of areas, including helping young parents continue their education; improving the health and wellbeing of Benalla students; and helping to develop young children’s early literacy and numeracy.
Speaking at the grant presentation, Tomorrow Today chair Sally Gamble commended the recipients on their projects and acknowledged the significant work they were undertaking in the Benalla community.
‘‘Since 2003, Tomorrow Today has presented 118 grants to 58 different organisations totalling more than $255000,’’ Ms Gamble said.
‘‘This is a wonderful contribution to the Benalla community, made possible by local support for the Foundation’s Community Fund.’’
She also noted the opportunities that have been opened up though Tomorrow Today’s purchase of the Cecily Court.
‘‘The grant presentations were held in the ‘PEEP’ room where more than 100 families participate each week in Tomorrow Today’s free early years program,’’ Ms Gamble said.
‘‘Other offices in Cecily Court are used for coordination and delivery of initiatives for young people including work readiness and mentoring programs.
‘‘Rooms are also regularly provided free of charge for other not for profits and community organisations to hold meetings and run educational programs.’’
Tomorrow Today’s purchase of Cecily Court would not have been possible without a low-interest loan from one of their philanthropic partners.
With a substantial loan repayment due in September, the foundation is appealing for people to donate towards its Property Appeal.
