Little athlete rapt

By Benalla Ensign

Benalla youngster Connor Breheny has been named as Benalla Young Sportsperson Trust’s latest recipient.

The St Joseph’s Primary School student received $500 from the BYSPT for his future endeavours with Little Athletics.

The 10-year-old’s main events include long jump, high jump and triple jump, with the latter taking Breheny all the way to the State Championships in March of this year.

Connor’s mother Nicole Murphy said the award had proved a huge help in supporting Connor’s sporting commitments.

“We’ve been going to a lot of open days throughout the state, competing against other centres, so it’s really helped with transport costs, accommodation and all his shoes for different events,” Murphy said.

Breheny will next compete at the Benalla Cross Country Open Day on Sunday June 9 in Reef Hills as part of the Little Athletics Club.
