Saints soar to third win

By Benalla Ensign

Five goals to one in the final term saw Benalla’s seconds squad run to their second win in as many weeks, with the Saints putting Tatura away by 26 points at the Benalla Showgrounds on Saturday.

Benalla failed to get on the board in the opening term, giving Tatura a comfortable 20-point lead at quarter time.

But the Saints soon woke up, rebounding to trail by four and three points respectively at half time and three quarter time.

And a strong last quarter saw the Saints run away with their third win of the season.

Benalla’s Ryan Colbert and Tim Dynon were named first and second best on ground in their second games this season, while Corry Westbury was again impressive after nabbing best afield in the teams win over Kyabram last week.

Tom Havers lined up for his first game since round six against Shepparton and bagged four goals, while Chris Bamford also returned to play with 150th club game for the Saints.

With a very winnable game available against Mooroopna next round, who were thrashed by 130 points in round 9, another win to the Saints could push them just outside the edge of the top 6 by the end of the round.
