Family escapes house fire

By Cobram Courier

Six people safely escaped a house fire in Numurkah early Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the Fuzzards Rd, Numurkah, property at 1.36am.

CFA district 22 duty officer Peter Bell said brigades responded to a chimney fire, which spread to the roof area of the home.

Mr Bell said two adults and four children were inside the property when the fire was noticed, but all managed to exit the house safely.

Six tankers, one pumper and the aerial pumper from Shepparton attended the scene, with firefighters on scene to about 3.24am.

Mr Bell said the roof area was damaged extensively and a building surveyor from Moira Shire Council later attended the scene to check the stability of the roof.
