The Southies girls overcame Finley, who have won the local carnival the past four years, by 18 points in the final at Memorial Park on Monday.
They now progress to the next stage at the Southern Riverina Paul Kelly Cup held in Wagga on June 28.
The South School were strongly represented at the annual footy day with all four teams displaying excellent sportsmanship.
One of South’s boys’ teams also made it through to the final, but couldn’t quite manage the win against Finley, going down by 22 points.
There was plenty of local representation on the day with Edward Public, North Public and Mathoura Public schools also competing.
North fielded three teams with the boys’ North Hillbillies, the girls’ North Legends and the mixed team The Northsiders, demonstrating determination in the multiple games each team played.
Teachers Eryn Brooksby and Megan Hunter said they were proud of the efforts of their students, with the competitive nature of both heard loudly as they coached and cheered the teams on.
North also had a familiar face cheering them on, in the form of former principal Chris Hogan.
All the teams had a win and a couple of losses.
In the girls team Gemma Macdonald and Matilda Dickie were right in there tackling tremendously while Chloe Manzin also showed promise.
In the boys team Charlie Bull and Ben Dunmore were working well as part of a team.
In the mixed team Jack Rosbiffi stood out for his commitment in all of the games no matter the score.
Edward had two teams competing, a girls side and a boys side.
