Following successful election campaigns, Zara Hosking, Zach Phyland, Jacob Stone and Troy King were named the leaders of the school.
As the names were called out, a rousing applause from their peers could be heard from the playground.
The new school captains were congratulated by principal Paul Marshall and Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh.
‘‘As part of the student leadership group, these students are role models for the rest of the school and represent us in the community,’’ Paul said.
‘‘This year, instead of having school captains and vice-school captains, we just decided to have the one group to work together representing our school.
‘‘Each student had to nominate themselves, write a speech and present it, hang posters around the school and go into each classroom to talk to their peers.
‘‘These four were then elected by the school.’’
Mr Walsh was glad to be a part of the announcement.
‘‘Being a school leader is a huge part of personal development,’’ he said.
‘‘I look forward to meeting with the Echuca Specialist School leaders throughout community events.’’
