Plenty of activities for FRC residents

The chefs will delight everyone with appropriate heart shaped cheesecake and there is expected to be a visit from Cupid.

In March the luck-of-the-Irish will be dancing through the facility for St Patrick’s Day on March 17.

FRC will pay homage to Australian fallen soldiers for ANZAC Day plus have Easter celebrations.

Activities co-ordinator Wendy Sutton said the residents are going to enjoy something different nearly every week.

‘‘There will be a lot of fun for the residents with the regular skittles, card marking, bingo, movies, singing, church and drag racing,’’ she said.

‘‘Last year we had students from Finley High School, Finley Public School and Biralee Preschool who came on a regular basis.

‘‘There was a really good response from the residents with kids coming down and we’re planning to continue that program.

‘‘The interaction for both students and elderly is really important.’’

FRC is also known to have a few celebrity appearances with some of the staff dressing up and performing.

In November there will plenty of celebration for two residents as they both turn 100, one day apart. Another resident is turning 105 in November.

‘‘We also have quite a few residents turning 90 this year which is really exciting,’’ Mrs Sutton said.

FRC CEO Ben Levesque added none of the activities would be possible without the dedicated help of volunteers from the Finley community.
