Lucy will be a delegate for Tocumwal Rotary at the program, and is one of 35 Year 11 students from across Australia set to take part.
The students will visit Parliament House, a foreign embassy, the Australian War Memorial and Australian Institute of Sport.
At Parliament House, the delegates will attend Question Time and share morning tea with the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tony Smith.
Given her interest in politics, Lucy says it should be a ‘‘fascinating trip.’’
‘‘I enjoy the discussion, sharing ideas, exchanges and opinions of politics. It will be interesting to learn how to get into politics, the challenges and how it works,’’ she said.
Tocumwal Rotary president Ian Stronge said Miss Bourchier is the prime delegate to represent the club.
‘‘We’ve only sent one person before to Canberra and would like send more in the future because it’s a fantastic program. It can be tough to attract people who are interested in going and we hope Lucy can come back and promote to local people how good it is,’’ Mr Stronge said.
