Murray River Highway Patrol Police were out in force over the Easter long weekend to provide a high profile presence to reduce road trauma, which will continue until after Anzac Day.
The Easter double demerit period ended Monday night.
The Anzac Day double demerits period began this morning, at 12.01am, and runs through until to 11.59pm on Sunday, April 28.
Also coinciding with the school holidays, local police are reminding everyone to take care.
Double demerit points apply for speeding, seatbelt, motorcycle helmet and mobile phone offences during all holiday periods such as long weekends, Christmas, New Year and Easter.
Drivers caught using their phones during a double demerit period can expect to be hit with the fine, as well as up to 10 demerits.
