A new mural has caught the eye of shoppers at Tocumwal IGA.
Located at the rear of the store, a large mural of a Liberator aircraft has been painted.
Store owner Anthony March said the idea came after he wanted to celebrate the rich history of Tocumwal.
‘‘The mural artists were back to touch up and complete the murals we already had at the front of the shop,’’ he said.
‘‘They were happy to do a bit of extra work and we decided to add a mural of the Liberator.
‘‘The Liberator is such a big part of the history of Tocumwal and it flows on from the other murals of Tocumwal’s history that we already have.
‘‘So far the artists have had three painting sessions and it’s expected to be completed soon.’’
The new mural has already gained traction online, with some people posting photos on social media.
Mr March said there has also been plenty of local interest.
‘‘We’ve had a few customers talking about it in the shop,’’ he said.
‘‘It’s hard to tell if it’s brought visitors to the town, but we’re hoping it can achieve that.
‘‘All we wanted to do was celebrate aviation as it’s a big part of Tocumwal.’’
